NGD was founded in December 2021. This was at the height of the corona virus pandemic. The world was under lockdown and everyone was asked to quarantine and self isolate. It’s during this time that a group of digital artists and graphic designers came together and decided to create something that will enable them to work online. At the time many people were laid off from work and the remaining staff were asked to change their routine and work from home. The idea of working from home was something that has been there all along since the internet boom in the early nineties but a few people in the industry had come to grasp it. It was something that sounded cool but only a few people really showed interest in it.
But the corona virus pandemic became a game changer. While it was rattling the globe and most storefronts lost businesses because of the loss of foot traffic. Nearly everyone in the world was negatively impacted and was suffering in some way. But it came to the attention of the public that there was a group of people who were not just surviving but actually thriving through the pandemic storm. Apart from the pharmaceutical companies, it was the e-commerce businesses that were raking in fortunes from their online sales. The pandemic had caused most business transactions to move online.
This was a great eye opener to us who were watching events unfold before our eyes. It came to our attention that we should have online businesses that can withstand such socio-economic shocks. We were all experienced designers at the time. Who didn’t have jobs to enjoy good salaries. So being self employed online was the best idea we could come up with at the time. Since the moment we jumped onto this online jobs bandwagon, the rest is history, our lives have never been the same. We have had the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life.
